Leather is a natural byproduct of the beef industry. I support American workers and American industry so I try to buy American made products. Occasionally there is not enough domestic leather to satisfy the demand so it is necessary to purchase a quantity of imported South American leather.
With the exception of credit card/photo inserts, here is no plastic in my purses or billfolds. The lacing is cut from leather. Stitching is done with linen thread, heavily waxed with beeswax. All my linings are either pigskin or sueded leather.
Out of concern for the environment my supplier has discontinued all solvent based dyes, finishes and adhesives and replaced them with new bio-degradable, earth friendly products which I use exclusively.
